The Change Mobile Phones Are Bringing in Us
Out of 7 billion people in the world, 6 billion are those who own a mobile phone while half of this figure that is 4.5 billion have access to a working toilet. Alarming huh!
Let us see how our mobile are changing ourselves slowly and we even don’t know it.
Using your phone
It is estimated that an average person uses his phone for almost 4.5 hours a day with casual breaks of course. This is the time that people spent over their phones and if this time is combined with the time spent on laptops, then you can easily judge why myopia or near sightedness has increased so much. And also we end up with pain in shoulders and the neck.
Dopamine rush
Take for example, you play candy crush, which is one of the most common games present almost in all mobiles. You play the game and get rewarded at short efforts, increasing your Brain’s dopamine levels. And when you are given a new content in the game, the dopamine burst increases giving your brain the same effect as can be achieved by using nicotine and cocaine and you behave accordingly. Our brain is in search of new contents, that is why apps on our phones are constantly uploading new content so that it becomes difficult for us to put down the cell phone.
Boredom
Almost 83% of people usually teen agers and middle-aged people tend to use their mobiles to avoid boredom and did not engage in healthy habits like reading a book, connecting with people or doing some healthy activity. And these people when cannot use their phones because their phones have malfunctioned, or it is not charged, develop a condition known as NOMOPHOBIA, that is a fear of being without a cell phone.
Sleep
Use of mobile phone is surely going to diminish your sleep or change your sleep patterns as the blue light emitted from the phone changes your circadian rhythm leading to diabetes, cancer and obesity. Studies have shown that people who read on their phones before sleep have a harder time sleeping and have low levels of melatonin, a hormone responsible to boost metabolism.
Positive use
Almost 7% of Americans have been reported to use their phones exclusively to access the internet. They used their phones majorly for medical issues, for finding jobs, for their bank transactions and for online banking.
There is no denying that phones are changing us but they also bring a positivity in the world. Phones are changing ourselves but by limiting their use, we can get the best out of them, as they say, the invention is not bad, the intention to use it is bad.
